Situated just a five-minute drive from the centre of Kaikōura, this homely B&B enjoys beautiful views of the stunning Kaikōura Seaward Mountain Ranges. No matter what the season, you are in for a treat as you watch the sunset over the mountains or the sunrise over the Pacific Ocean.

As the name suggests, Brook House B&B sits nestled next to a beautiful brook where you can relax in the peaceful garden. Brook House B&B is close enough to Kaikōura town centre to be convenient, yet far enough away to provide the sort of peace and quiet that is hard to find in the busy coastal town. It’s a special place, and owner Judy, Charlie (the dog) and Alice (the cat) look forward to welcoming you soon.

Slow down and smell the sea air

Owner Judy has lived in Kaikōura for over 30 years, and she’s created a beautiful property, which exudes a relaxed and homely vibe. The guest rooms and public spaces are decorated with style and creativity, and the welcome is so warm it takes most people by surprise. You’re greeted with warmth and ease from the moment you arrive here.

With five very comfortable guest rooms in the house, they are all various sizes and have different facilities. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the shared kitchen for the house guests. Judy may even be able to treat you to one of her fabulous chocolate muffins. Breakfasts, too, are amazing, with a continental delight awaiting you each morning.

Great for families! there are two fully self- contained cottages available on the same property each sleeping up to 4 people.

The property is pet-friendly by prior arrangement with Judy.

Pooling around

This is not the sort of B&B you are in a hurry to leave. There’s a beautiful garden with a spa pool set up exclusively for guests to use. It’s a luxurious way to unwind at the end of the day. Or relax in the guest lounge, with TV and great views of the mountains. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.

It would be a shame to miss out on the multiple attractions Kaikōura has on offer. Judy can set you up for a wonderful stay with her plentiful recommendations. With years of local knowledge, Judy can guide you and help with bookings on the best spots, depending on your needs.

What’s happening?

From llama trekking to kayaking, from whale watching to dolphin encounters, Kaikōura has a bit of everything on offer, all year round. For the sporty ones, there’s golf and mountain bike tracks, surfing, quad biking, horse trekking and more. And if you’re after a romantic getaway, there’s the Peninsula walkway, fantastic dining options and plenty of choice for a massage or two.

Dine In, Dine Out

If you want an evening “at home” you can use the shared kitchen to prepare a light meal or bring home some takeaways. If you want an evening “ out” Judy is happy to recommend a local restaurant and help you make a reservation.

Cosy and convenient

Just a hop, skip and a jump to the local New World supermarket, this B&B is perfectly located to get your supplies and then sit back and enjoy the rural setting. And with complimentary tea and coffee and Judy’s freshly baked chocolate muffins, you’ll be glad you stayed a while.

Busy on business

If you’re on business and just passing through, why not stop and rest awhile at Brook House. Open all week and all weekends, this B&B will almost feel like home. Stay the week and take advantage of the discounts. Kaikoura Taxis are available if you want to have a night out in town.

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely lady - Judy. She gave us a pleasant house tour & helped us settle in after a long flight + drive. Our room had a beautiful green field view with the seagulls making it even mesmerising. The location was merely a 5 mins drive to all the nearby attractions & restaurants.

A comfortable room, a wonderful hostess, and the sweetest furry companions cute cat, and playful doggo 🐱🐶. We arrived late and left early, so sadly no chance for proper photos or goodbyes. But if we ever get the chance, we’d love to come back and spend more time here.

What an absolute spot. Breakfast included that suits everyone - stunning views on the balcony overlooking the mountains. Hot tub can be used after a day of hiking, mountain biking, whale watching..... I mean, kinda the perfect holiday spot. Judy has been operating for 25 years and the love is shown. Enjoy your stay!

Great and affordable room for the night on our drive down the South Island, with great tips from Judy on things to do in Kaikoura. Private bathroom and breakfast provided in the morning, and a lovely view out the back windows. Worked out great!

My mum and I had a wonderful stay at Judy's B&B. She is a a great host, friendly and helpful and we had some nice chats at the breakfast table. Breakfast was wonderful, too, with freshly made fruit salad, cereals and different kinds of toast bread and jams. All we needed and more. It is a very welcoming place to stay, making you feel at home! I highly recommend staying here!

We’ve had a nice apartment with a small kitchen and an en-suite bathroom. The backyard is quiet and we felt very welcome. Judy was such a great a friendly person with nice tips and great stories! We’d loved to talk to her during breakfast! The breakfast was good and served in the kitchen upstairs with the other guests. All in all it was a great stay and we’d like to thank Judy for her great hospitality.

Absolutely lovely, so much effort put into small details. The host is very friendly and kind. The breakfast was served wonderfully with similar attention to detail. The garden behind property was lovely. Very strongly recommended. We had room with kitchenette ( very well equipped) so a very small point would be lack of closet space. But I would absolutely stay here again if I revisit.

Judy's B&B is like going home to see your mum (apologies Judy 🤗). Friendly and informal. Judy kindly picked us up & the next day dropped us off, at the railway station. She also recommended how best to experience the beauty of Kaikoura in the short time we were there. Oh, and our continental breakfast was delicious.

The hospitality was great. You get a complimentary breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. It was a short drive into the town centre. We spent some time in the lounge area getting to know Judy, the owner, and her pets. We found the experience welcoming, homely and relaxing.

Cozy place, it felt like home, lovely hostess! I would have loved to stay longer. Sadly we had to leave early in the morning to catch the whale watching cruise and didn't have time to properly enjoy the amazing breakfast that she had prepared.
